Why We’re Drawn to Certain Places

We all know that moving and travelling has a powerful influence on our mindset. This is a reason why many choose to travel and relocate. We naturally feel drawn to places that are good for us and conversely, we avoid places that aren’t. Oftentimes, these natural inclinations toward places can be reflected in our Astrocartography map.

What Is Astrocartography?

Astrocartography, or locational astrology, is a tool we can use to discover where in the world we can thrive and best achieve our goals. If you are feeling stuck, fed up and underappreciated in any area of your life, moving to a new locality may prove to be helpful for you.

How Your Astrocartography Map Works

Your Astrocartography map is based on your natal chart (this is a snapshot of where the planets were in the sky at the time and place you were born). You may have been born at sunrise but on the other side of the world, the sun was setting (and simultaneously in other positions) in different places all over the world. The same goes for all other planets in your chart.

The Astrocartography map lines are a representation of where the planets were simultaneously rising, setting, culminating and anti-culminating across the globe at your time of birth. When we travel of relocate, this can change our level of luck and introduce new opportunities. Travelling to a place where planets ‘shift’ to different positions could be key to your success. For instance, travelling to where your Jupiter Midheaven line falls can indicate you will acheive growth in your career path.

The Importance of Planetary Condition

However, it isn’t always as simple as this and you must consider your goals and chart as a whole before making any big moves! If your planets are in bad condition (for example, if they are in detriment/fall or have a lot of difficult aspects), moving close to such a planetary line can also bring out more problems in your life so be sure to check the condition of your planet before relocating!

Why Relocation Charts Matter

Also, note that your Astrocartography map is just one piece of the puzzle. While looking at the map can provide you with helpful information, it does not reveal the full picture. While you might think going to a Jupiter line will bring nothing but sunshine and rainbows, it is rarely as simplistic as that. Going to a new place could ‘shift’ other planets in your chart to other houses in the relocated chart which could bring up other issues in your life.

I’m going to be honest with you though. Issues are bound to crop up wherever we go as we do live in an imperfect world so it’s important keep your expectations in check. That being said it’s clear that more places are more supportive for us so it’s all about weighing up the positives against the negatives and being prepared for the possible negatives.

No Line? No Problem

Don’t mistakenly think that just because somewhere does not have a line on the map, the place will have no effect on you either. This is absolutely not true and the reality is, every single place will impact your life in a unique way. This can be reflected in your relocation chart. This chart represents the position of the planets at your time of birth in a different location.

How to Use a Relocation Chart

You can calculate a relocation chart for every single place on this planet and we can see how things play out in a particular location based on the chart. It is just that the map only shows where planets fall on the angles in the relocated chart (the Ascendant, Descendant, Imum Coeli (IC) and Medium Coeli (MC), not the other houses in the relocated chart.

Parans & Hidden Energies

It is important to consider your whole relocated chart and also parans (where planetary lines intersect), as this can reveal a lot more about what you can expect in a particular location. This is what I do when I perform readings. I also carefully analyse your natal chart and consider the condition of your planets and placements to see where in the world would be a good fit for you.
